Dear Miss Hewitt, I would like to respectfully put forward a suggestion—that in a forthcoming album of Beethoven sonatas you consider inclusion of the “Prometheus” Variations and Fugue Op. 35 (which you list as being part of your active repertoire). Its glad theme, the delightfully exciting treatment thereof and its overall form would seem to provide a nice contrast placed between two sonatas of perhaps more serious fare (Maybe it would take in spirit the place of the Op 7 and 28 Sonatas included on your previous cd’s). This apart from the more subjective reason that I (and I imagine many others) simply have a keen curiosity to hear your interpretation of this lovely, yet too-seldom performed work! Sincerely, Martin Sarvis Jerusalem

Dear Miss Hewitt, My wife and I read of your loss early Tuesday morning. As I drove out of Jerusalem through the hills to lead worship from the piano in a village called Mevaseret Tzion just west of the city, I was playing your final Bach solo cd and praying that Av haRachamim and Kol haNehama (Father of Mercies and of all Comfort) be very near to you. May His grace strengthen and carry you through. We so love and appreciate you and look forward to when you return to Israel. Sincerely, Martin & Norma Sarvis Jerusalem

dears Mrs. Hewitt, last sunday me and my family travelled from Belgium to London to see your concert, you opened my eyes, en tought me how to play piano with love. Today I had my piano lesson and I have never played like this before. Thank you.. really. After the concert I wanted to ask you a question but you were signing cd's and we had to get back in Belgium on time. so, I'll ask it this way, How do you manage to play the last note perfectly, with whole your body en still not moving a bit ? I'm really jealous at that. I'm sorry for your lost and I think it takes so much curriage to keep playing, but you're a true artist, .. so I understand. In june I will do my examen of piano, And when I play, I'll think of you Greetings, Lieselotte, 15 years.

I was totally inspired by your concert in the Festival Hall yesterday. I followed it with my own copy of Book 1 given to me by my piano teacher in 1958 when I was introduced to the 48, and which you kindly signed afterwards. I have just read your sad news and feel very moved by your comments. Edward Thompson

Dear Ms Hewitt, My deepest condolences for your loss. I remember standing right behind your mother and father at the ticket booth in Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto at the prizewinners' concert the day after you won the Bach International Competition. She was beaming with joy and am sure she still is as you are doing what you were meant to do.

my 14yr old daughter came with me to your concert today at the Southbank in London. It was an experience beyond words! My daughter confessed that she thought she would be bored and is now eagerly awaiting book 2 in May. Thank you so much. x
