Ms. Hewitt,
It was a pleasure to hear you playing the Bach 48 at Orange County, CA! Being a music teacher, I constantly emphasize and bring out the importance of classical music in my class. I teach strings in the middle and high school of my school district. Next time when you are in the area again, I will recommend all my students to go and see you. Since they all play string instruments, it would be lovely if you would be playing a concerto or chamber music.

Thank you, Ms. Hewitt, for the wonderful performances of Bach's WTC in New York. That was such a treat to hear both books, distractions notwithstanding. I heard things in Book II especially that I hadn't noticed before; some of that music is still in my head. Can't wait for your DVD.
Dear Ms Hewitt, I live in Brazil and I am a great admirer of Johann Sebastian Bach's music. I am also a huge fan of yours. I have nearly all of your Bach CDs and I believe you play Bach at the piano as very few pianists do. (By the way, please record The Art of Fugue!) Forget about the whole Glenn Gould think; you and Andras Schiff are redefining Bach at the piano. Congratulations! And, if I may, one more request: please, consider coming to Brazil. Best regards, Francisco
Dear Angela,
I`m very very interested to buy your Bach-teachings on DVD but I did not found it on web-stores, for instance amazon or jpc.
It should come out last month after my knowlegde, but it is probably not on the market...?
Could you give us more information/help?
Thanks for your wonderful piano-playing!
Yours
Bernd
Thank you for WTC in NYC. This brought me back to music I loved as a young person. I only knew your work from a video clip I saw on television recently. It's so wonderful that the "endless staccato" hammering of Bach on the piano has been vanquished. Thanks for the expressive, judicious rubati, the feeling of joyful improvisation, along with the sheer technical achievement, unacademic ornamentation, organ-like doublings and sonority, where appropriate, etc., etc. A memorable evening (I only heard WTC I), despite distractions in Zankel.
Yes, also at Zankel. We very much enjoyed the performance: begininng to end. The coughers were a problem––but the week before I was in the Weil Concert Hall and endured someone opening cough sweets throughout the program. And our neighbor seemed to have especially selected jangling bracelet to bring. Oh dear. But more time needs to spent on the performance: we were gripped: the special balance of energy and control. How to dance and be still at the same moment. I have a number of your CDs and was fascinated by the tone of the Fazioli in person. Thank you! Nicholas Adams
I was at your performance of Book II yesterday at Zankel Hall, and it was a treasurable experience. The rhythmic acuity and sparkle, the contrapuntal clarity, the golden tone, the flowing line, the sensitive dynamic variations -- all contributed to the concert of a lifetime for me. I can only imagine how much you were bothered by the coughers -- it disturbed my concentration, and I was just listening!
Do you have any plans to play in NYC again anytime soon? Whenever it is, I will be there.
My wife and I heard you and Daniel Muller-Schott last night in Kingston: wow. That was the eighth (!) time we've been lucky enough to see you live and I don't think you've played better. No doubt the Fazioli helped. What a wonderful sound and action that has. May I make two humble suggestions? First, perhaps consider Stravinsky's Suite Italienne for programs when you play only two of the Bach sonatas (the recording I bought last night has already leapt to the top of my favourites, bypassing Ma/Cooper and Bylsma/Koopman). The Franck was excellent, but I found its atmosphere a bit too much of a contrast to the Bach. Second, may I beg you to consider playing some of the Shostakovich Preludes and Fugues? I suspect you could offer definitive interpretations. Anyway, thanks for coming to Kingston yet again, and tolerating our slightly discourteous audiences.
Thank you so much for including Vancouver in your Bach World Tour! I thoroughly enjoyed your performance of The Well Tempered Clavier Book I. I now feel inspired to learn more of Bach's music! Every aspect of your performance was beautiful from your sparkly gown and Cinderella shoes to the gorgeous, melting tone you could make the piano produce! I hope you come back to Vancouver again soon!

Thank you for a wonderful night of Bach in Berkeley, 10-10-07. Your sensitivity to the uniquel character and beauty of each prelude and fugue brought a sense of a new adventure to WTC Bk I. Many of the pieces I heard as if with new ears. In end, there is no one 'right way' to play Bach, only the individual performer's love and passion can bring the music to life. Bach lived well in Berkeley last night, thanks to you Angela. Bravo!!!
