I heard Couperin "mysterious baricades" on the radio whilst driving home. I've listened to it over and over. A beautiful piece, played gracefully.
Dear Ms. Hewitt,
I've seen you in performance twice: at the Blossom Music Center with the Cleveland Orchestra and at the University of Illinois in the Bach WTC, Book 1 (all some years ago, alas). I was interested to read in your blog that people say they do not listen to female pianists. Only absurd prejudice can explain such a view: when it comes to Bach, you and Rosalyn Tureck (not to mention Wanda Landowska) have given me some of the most remarkable recordings that I have ever heard. Glenn Gould too, if you'll forgive me (no one has surpassed has Little Preludes and Fugues, just as no one has surpassed your Capriccio on the Departure of His Beloved Brother). It seems to me that a number of women pianists have mastered Bach in a way that few male pianists have--you most definitely among them.
Glad to hear that you've been on the main stage at Carnegie. Long overdue, if you ask me. If the schedule works, I hope to hear you at Severance Hall, with my beloved Cleveland Orchestra someday.
I hope you have a long break coming up (and you should get that assistant!).
Best regards,
RK
I LOVE ANGELA HEWITT SO MUCH~ HOPE TO ATTEND YOUR MUSIC PERFORMANCE IN HONGKONG~
Magnificent performance on your concerts in Hong Kong this past weekend! The slow movement of the Bach's F minor concerto brought me to tears...
Was the encore piece 'Sleepers, Wake' your own arrangement? I was once again captivated by this beautiful Bach's music and of course your rendition of the piece. Has this been recorded in any of your album?
I wish you return to HK someday soon. Thanks, Ms. Hewitt! You gave a concert that I'm going to remember for a very long time.
A big thank you for your miraculous performance just a few hours ago! Frankly, I thought that your tone colour (especially towards the higher register) lacked certain charisma. I reckon it is a formidable challenge to move the audience with the simplicity of Mozart's concerto. However, your playing inspired me a lot. Ravel once said, 'music should be emotional first and intellectual second'. I suppose 'emotional' refers to the power to move oneself and the audience. And, as I said, it is very hard to accomplish. But your thoughts, your intellects, were expressed in total sincerity and effectively to me, and overwhelmed me. I have never thought about the piece in such ways. Your playing inspired me to imagine the piece to be 100% emotional. Once again, thank you very much for your great innovation, Maestro ! I am looking forward to your next concert in HK.
P.S. I'm curious to know how would you approach a new work, so as to perform it with certain flair and quality in a short period?
Thanks Angela for a wonderful concert in Hong Kong tonight. Everyone around me was totally electrified, especially by the beautiful Bach concertos!
Am hugely looking forward to the concert on Saturday. 4 beautiful concertos in one go. I should hope that you would enjoy the weather in HK today. Please take a picture so as to "redeem" our harbour to your blogreaders!
Hi Angela,
Thank you so much for the wonderful concert at the Fazioli Piano Showroom on 23/4/2010, where I enjoyed listening to your amazing sound while looking at my own paintings on the walls.
You can see some photos taken at your mini concert here:

Thank you again for a great concert in Tokyo!
The audience was mesmerized during the second movement of the Brahms Sonata. All coughing stopped as if any sound would disturb the state of "wa" you were creating with the piano. Such delicate music played with immense authority and strength.
The autograph line gets longer every time, doesn't it? Standing in line not my cup of tea, however, my deepest admiration and thanks. Brava!
