Dear Angela, this afternoon, in Kingston , I enjoyed IMMENSELY, your performance of the “Goldbergs”. Before hand, I kept wondering “what to expect”, and I confess, Gould !, Gould 2 or Tipo (I confess not having your recording!- just ordered it!). Your interpretation exceeded my expectations by orders of magnitude. So expressive, so nuanced, so unmetronomic!!.. it was everything I could do, NOT to play my air piano… as you played. Your performance opened my ears much wider than simple recordings, and quite frankly, I almost “lost it” as the last Aria started- almost. My heart beat with increased frequency for quite sometime afterwards… I’ve never been so struck by a live performance- … many times, when I conduct the “ stereo”, my arm hairs “stand on end”…. Today had far more gravity! So, I am in a state of immense gratitude. Thank you! We were both Ottawans at one point. (1957-77) then Toronto (77-91), and Kingston thereafter. Thank you so much for your memorable performance, and for all that DO for music. Thank you for sharing your gifts! Still in awe, .. thank you, affectionately, Peter Cohrs, Kingston.
