I have just returned from hearing your performance of the Goldberg variations at the Festival Hall. As a professional musician, I have been attending concerts for the past 60 years, hearing Richter, Rubinstien and Horowitz, and I can tell you in all sincerity that I have never heard a finer recital than that given by you this evening. I was deeply moved, not only by your superlative technical control, but also by the depth and spirituality of your interpretation. Thank you Ms Hewitt (and Bach) for enhancing my life
