It's been a month since I was in Umbria enjoying the Trasimeno Music Festival and the memories of that wonderful week are still very fresh. I remember the evening listening to Mozart's Elvira Madigan and doing something I have never done before in all of my 79 years: Standing up at the end and shouting BRAVO which was followed immediately by a chorus of BRAVOS, and one of the women from Atlanta saying she was so moved by Angela's playing she cried. It was that kind of evening, that kind of week.
What else? Three four-star dinners with canapes on the green followed inside by champagne and wine and impeccable service; a tour of the town of Gubbio which some say is the loveliest town in Europe; the rest of that evening of Mozart, every offering so very memorable; Beethoven symphonies in an eleventh century church of great beauty; seating in the castle with the performers only a few feet away; and a gifr from the Festival of fine wines to take home and remind one of that wonderful week.
