Schumann Concerto in Florida

…..Perfection was exactly what was delivered in an astounding performance of Schumann’s Piano concerto in A minor, Op. 54.

Soloist Angela Hewitt is nothing less than amazing. She brought the crystalline clarity and utmost musical phrasing for which she has made her mark in countless recordings of Bach’s keyboard works. Every note was imbued with great meaning and emotion.

Within any given phrase was a heavenly hesitation or sigh followed next by a quick giddiness. Could this be love? Orchestra and piano were seamlessly married in this score with intimate dialogues of such delicacy.

It is hard to imagine not falling in love with this music during a performance such as this.
