Friday, June 9, 2023, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

J. S. Bach: Toccata c-Moll, BWV 911 • J. S. Bach: Französische Suite Nr. 5 G-Dur, BWV 816 • J. S. Bach: Chromatische Fantasie und Fuge d-Moll, BWV 903 • J. S. Bach: Ouvertüre h-Moll nach französischer Art, BWV 831 • J. S. Bach: Italienisches Konzert F-Dur, BWV 971

Angela Hewitt (piano, presentation)

The Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt is now a regular guest at the Bachfest – she most recently enchanted audiences with her moving interpretations of the Well-Tempered Clavier and the Goldberg Variations. Now the recipient of the City of Leipzig Bach Medal is back on the banks of the Pleisse with a very special programme. After tough negotiation with herself, she has named her five favourite works by Bach. Not only will she perform them, she will also explain to the audience why such contrasting pieces as the Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue, the Italian Concerto and the great French Overture feature right at the top of her Bach playlist and performance favourites. We’re looking forward to it!
