Edinburgh International Festival / The Queen’s Hall Series

Thursday, August 13, 2015, 11:00 am

Angela Hewitt Piano

Works by Domenico Scarlatti, Granados, Albéniz and de Falla.

Thoughtful and sensitive, yet vigorous and powerful, Canadian-born pianist Angela Hewitt is a major figure among world-class pianists, praised equally for her light-footed accounts of Baroque music, especially Bach, and the sparkling energy of her performances of more recent music.

She brings together two contrasting musical worlds for her colourful Festival recital: sparkling, witty early keyboard sonatas by Scarlatti, alongside lush Iberian fantasies including Granados’s charming Danzas españolas and the dazzling pianistic fireworks of de Falla’s evocative Fantasia baetica.
