The Booker Prize winner is not only fond of literary muses, he also finds inspiration in music. So it is no surprise that the novelist will be reading texts he has researched and written about Johann Sebastian Bach’s journey to his role model Dietrich Buxtehude. “Since I was 16, Bach’s music has been my constant source of energy,” he said in an interview. “Bach’s creations are like the process of a thought before language: deeply human, without saying anything. I think that in his music you encounter probably the purest form of creative spirit.” The works played by Bach expert Angela Hewitt are also likely to bring great happiness to both the audience and Mr. McEwan.
