Codsall Festival

Tuesday, March 8, 2016, 7:30 pm

One of the world’s leading pianists, Angela Hewitt regularly appears in recital and with major orchestras throughout Europe, the Americas and Asia. Her performances and recordings of Bach have drawn particular praise, marking her out as one of the composer’s foremost interpreters of our time.

Highlights of Angela Hewitt’s 2014/15 season have included concerts with Washington’s National Symphony Orchestra, and the Vancouver Symphony, Japan Philharmonic, and Swedish Chamber orchestras. In January 2015 Angela Hewitt performed with mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter at the University of Chicago, the Celebrity Series of Boston, San Francisco Performances, Toronto’s Royal Conservatory and New York’s Le Poisson Rouge. As solo recitalist she has performed this season at Wigmore Hall in London, Copenhagen’s Mogens Dahl Koncertsal, Bath Bachfest, and the University of Washington in the USA.

Angela Hewitt’s recording of Bach’s The Art of Fugue was released in October 2014 to much acclaim, and she was soloist for Ondine’s release of Messiaen’s Turangalîla Symphony with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Hannu Lintu in summer 2014. She lives in London but also has homes in Ottawa and Umbria in Italy, where she invites international musicians each summer to take part in her own Trasimeno Music Festival.
