SUMMARY:Concert in Oulu\, Finland
DESCRIPTION:Rumon Gamba conductor\nAngela Hewitt piano\nOulu Sinfonia \nFrederic Devreese: Benvenuta Suite No. 1\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 16 in D major\, K. 451\n—\nBéla Bartók: Concerto for Orchestra\, Sz. 116 \nThe legendary Angela Hewitt continues her worldwide tour performing all of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s piano concertos as a complete cycle. In Oulu\, she presents the effervescent Piano Concerto No. 16 in D Major\, radiating youthful Viennese spirit. Belgium’s perhaps best-known contemporary composer\, Frederik Devreese\, made his name equally as a master of film music. His Benvenuta Suite pulses with decadence and fantasy\, carried along by the rhythms of tango\, habanera and waltz. \nBéla Bartók transformed the music of Hungary into a gift for the entire world. His final – and by far most frequently performed – work is the Concerto for Orchestra\, a landmark of neoclassicism. Striking solos pass from one instrument to the next for nearly forty minutes. \nHead start at Restaurant Preludi at 18:00. Discussion of the forthcoming concert. \nOulu is the European Capital of Culture in 2026. Concerto for the Orchestra is part of the Oulu2026 cultural programme and the cultural climate change initiative.

SUMMARY:Concert in Glasgow
DESCRIPTION:Joseph Haydn Symphony No.6 “Le Matin”\nCarl Philipp Emanuel Bach Keyboard Concerto Wq. 20 in C\nMarianna Martines Sinfonia in C\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart Keyboard Concerto No.14 K. 449 in E-flat \nAngela Hewitt fortepiano\nMatthew Truscott violin & director \nAlive with musical exchange\, 18th-century Vienna was known as a city where composers\, performers and patrons moved within the same close-knit circles\, sharing ideas as readily as they shared the stage. The line between soloist and ensemble blurred\, and music unfolded as an intimate\, evolving conversation. Within this world\, composers such as Haydn\, C.P.E. Bach and Martines each contributed to a shared musical language\, testing its boundaries\, refining its forms and shaping its future. A young Mozart\, absorbing these influences\, would carry them forward with extraordinary fluency and imagination. \nAlongside internationally renowned pianist Angela Hewitt we aim to shine a light on a culture of collaboration\, where the keyboard and ensemble engage as equal partners\, and where every musical idea feels part of a wider\, living dialogue.
