Angela Hewitt’s Bach Book is a successor to A Bach Book for Harriet Cohen dating from 1932, collecting arrangements from leading composers of her day. Hewitt’s book includes two of the original arrangements – by Walton and Howells – together with her own transcriptions of three organ chorale preludes from Bach’s Orgelbüchlein (which you can hear on her Bach Arrangements CD) and six new works commissioned by the Wigmore Hall from composers Brett Dean, Robin Holloway, Elena Kats-Chernin, Dominic Muldowney, Kurt Schwertsik, and Yehudi Wyner.
A Bach Book for Angela Hewitt is dedicated to the memory of Michael Steinberg who first suggested to the pianist the idea of commissioning new works inspired by Bach.

1599 - Schumann Kinderszenen, Davidsbündlertänze, G minor Sonata

This is the second CD Angela Hewitt has devoted to the solo piano music of Schumann. On it she has included three of her favourite works: the beloved Scenes from Childhood (Kinderszenen) with the ever popular "Träumerei"; the fantastic Davidsbündlertänze which, perhaps more than any other of his compositions, shows his dual personality of Florestan and Eusebius; and the brilliant G minor Sonata Op. 22.

1600 - Beethoven Piano Sonatas, Vol. 3

This recording, the third in the series of Beethoven piano sonatas, comprises four works from three different periods of the composer’s life. As with the two previous recordings, there was no particular plan governing their being put together, other than the inclusion of one very famous sonata (in this case the ‘Moonlight’) with others that are less often heard. The Op. 26 Sonata contains a funeral march; the Op. 10 No. 2 is a concise masterpiece of humour in music; the two movements of Op. 90 are said to be depictions of speech and song, with the second of the two sounding a lot like Schubert.
"Angela Hewitt's Beethoven is like no one else's." (International Piano Magazine)
